HMS Acasta

Several warships of the Royal Navy have been named HMS Acasta:

  • The first HMS Acasta, a frigate with 40 cannons, ran 1797 and came during the Napoleonic Wars and the War of 1812 with the United States for use where they the American privateer Prince de Neufchatel conquered together with HMS Leander and HMS Newcastle. She was scrapped in 1821.
  • The second HMS Acasta, a wooden frigate with screw drive. It was in 1861 laid the keel, but not completed.
  • The third HMS Acasta ( G40), was a destroyer, which was launched in 1912 and the Acasta class gave the name. It was in 1921 sold for demolition.
  • The fourth HMS Acasta ( H09 ) was a destroyer of the A-Class, which was launched in 1929 and was sunk on 8 June 1940 by the German battleships Scharnhorst and Gneisenau.
  • The fifth HMS Acasta ( P452 ) was a submarine of the Amphion class, whose construction was stopped in 1945.
