HMS Encounter

The following ships of the British Royal Navy have been named HMS Encounter and Encounter.

  • The first encounter was a 1616 standing in the service discovery ship
  • The second encounter was a brig of 16 guns. The ship was launched in 1805 and was destroyed in 1812
  • The third encounter was a wooden Schraubenkorvette. The ship was launched in 1846 from the stack and in 1866 canceled.
  • The fourth Encounter was a wooden Schraubenkorvette. The ship was launched in 1873 and was sold in 1888.
  • The fifth Encounter was a protected cruiser of the Challenger class. The ship was launched in 1902 from the stack. It was 1919, the Royal Australian Navy handed over and renamed HMAS Penguin. She served until her sinking as a depot ship.
  • The sixth Encounter was a destroyer. He ran in 1934 and sank in 1942 off the stack itself
