HMS Jupiter

HMS Jupiter is the name of several British ships, the supreme Roman god Jupiter named after:

  • HMS Jupiter ( 1778), a ship of the 4th class with 50 guns, which was launched in 1778 and scrapped in 1808.
  • HMS Jupiter ( 1813), a war ship 4th class with 50 guns. In 1837 she was used as a troop carrier and 1846 converted into a coal one. 1870 was scrapped.
  • HMS Jupiter was a coal, which was launched in 1833 as a ship in the 5th grade with 44 cannons with the name HMS Forth ( 1833). In 1869 it was renamed Jupiter and sold in 1883.
  • HMS Jupiter (1895 ), a battleship of the Majestic class, which was launched from the dock in 1895 and 1920 scrapped.
  • HMS Jupiter ( F85 ), a destroyer of the J- Class, which was launched in 1938 and in 1942 was sunk by mines.
  • HMS Jupiter ( F60), a frigate of the Leander class, which was launched in 1967 and was sold for scrapping in 1997.
