HMS Majestic

Several ships of the British Royal Navy have been named HMS Majestic (English for majestic )

  • The first HMS Majestic was a ship of the line third class with 74 cannons, which was launched in 1785, including took part in the Battle of the Nile of 1798, 1814 removal of a deck ( Razee ) was converted into a heavy frigate with 56 guns and went in 1816 lost by stranding.
  • The second HMS Majestic was a ship of the line second class with screw drive and 80 cannons, which was launched in 1853 and scrapped in 1868.
  • The third HMS Majestic was a ship of the line, which was launched in 1895 and was its name to the Majestic class. It was sunk in 1915 in the Dardanelles by the German submarine U 21.
  • The fourth HMS Majestic was a light aircraft carrier, which launched in 1945 and in turn was eponymous for a Majestic class. The completion in 1946 stopped the ship but later the Royal Australian Navy handed over, there put into service in 1949 and renamed in 1955 in HMAS Melbourne. She was decommissioned in 1982 and scrapped in China in 1985.
