HMS Pandora
HMS Pandora was the name of several ships in the history of the British Royal Navy.
- The first HMS Pandora was a frigate of the Porcupine - class with 24 guns, which was launched in 1779. The ship was in 1791 in search of the Bounty and ran aground on the Great Barrier Reef.
- The second HMS Pandora was a brig of 14 guns. The originally French ship named Pandour was captured in 1795 by the Royal Navy.
- The third HMS Pandora was a brig Cruizer class with 18 cannons. She ran in 1806 from the pile and was destroyed in 1811.
- The fourth HMS Pandora was also a brig Cruizer class, which was launched in 1813. It was sold in 1831.
- The fifth HMS Pandora was armed with three guns brig. The 1833, launched in ship was used from 1857 for coastal protection and sold in 1862.
- The sixth HMS Pandora was a steam-powered gunboat in wood construction, which was launched in 1859. The ship was built in 1875 and again in 1878 and renamed USS Jeanette. It made several trips to the Arctic. There it is frozen in 1881 and sunk in the ice.
- The seventh HMS Pandora was a cruiser of the Pearl Class 1889 and ran from the stack. A year later she was named Katoomba and was sold in 1906.
- The eighth HMS Pandora was a cruiser of the Pelorus class. In 1900, launched in 1913 scrapped ship.
- The ninth HMS Pandora was a depot ship. The current under the name of Seti merchant ship was purchased in 1914 and renamed in 1924 in Dolphin. 1939 hit a mine and sank.
- The tenth HMS Pandora was a submarine of the Parthian class. The boat sank in 1929, launched in 1942 in Valetta, was lifted the following year and 1957 scrapped.
