HMS Royal Sovereign

(HMS ) Royal Sovereign is the name of today seven warships of the Royal Navy:

  • Sovereign of the Seas was the first ship of the line in the world with three full battery decks and 100 cannons. She ran from 1637 batch, has been rebuilt several times and in 1660 renamed ' Royal Sovereign '. She burned 1696 to the waterline, some frames of the wrecks were used in the new building of the same name in 1701.
  • Royal Sovereign ( 1701) was a ship of the line with 100 guns, which launched in 1701. After a basic repair, which amounted to a new building, it was canceled in 1766.
  • HMS Royal Sovereign (1786 ) was a three-decker, which served as the flagship of Admiral Collingwood at the Battle of Trafalgar.
  • ' HMS Royal Sovereign ' was a yacht which was launched in 1804 and scrapped in 1849.
  • HMS Royal Sovereign ( 1857) ran in 1857 as a screw ship of the line with 131 guns from the stack. 1861-63 it was rebuilt for the first tower ship of the Royal Navy, in 1881, finally sold for scrapping.
  • HMS Royal Sovereign (1891 ) was a 1891 from the pile spilled battleship of the Royal Sovereign class, which was scrapped in 1913.
  • HMS Royal Sovereign (05 ) was a battleship of the Revenge - class, which was used in both World Wars. From 1944-49 it was borrowed under the name of Arkhangelsk to the Soviet Union, after which it was immediately scrapped.
