The HMS Sea Nymph ( P223 ) was a submarine of the Royal Navy in World War II.

History

The Sea Nymph (English analogously: Mermaid ) was a boat of the third contract section of the successful S-Class. This building lot is known as Seraph class. She was laid down on 6 May 1941 Cammell Laird in the North West of England Birkenhead on Kiel, ran on 29 July 1942 by Stack, and was put into service by the Royal Navy on November 3, 1942.

The HMS Sea Nymph was under the command of Lt. J.P.H. Oakley used in the North Sea and the Bay of Biscay. Despite several attacks no combat success was achieved:

  • On 13 July 1943, the British submarine attacked in the Bay of Biscay, the German submarine U 592 unsuccessful with six torpedoes.
  • On March 1, 1944, the HMS Sea Nymph Norwegian transporter Jupiter ( 2471 BRT) reached before Bodø (Norway ) failed with four torpedoes.
  • On 3 March 1944, the German freighter Levante ( 4769 BRT ) was also attacked unsuccessfully with four torpedoes Bodo.

The HMS Sea Nymph was scrapped in June 1948 in the Scottish Troon.
