HMS Seahorse

HMS Seahorse (English: seahorse ) was the name of ten warships of the Royal Navy:

  • The first HMS Seahorse was captured in 1626 and last mentioned in 1635.
  • The second HMS Seahorse 1654 was a captured ship, which was used as a tender and sold in 1655.
  • The third HMS Seahorse, a Brander with 10 cannons, which was bought in 1694 by the Netherlands, was later used as a water tender and scuttled in 1698.
  • The fourth HMS Seahorse was a 24 -gun warship of the 6th rank, which was launched in 1694 and 1704 was lost by shipwreck.
  • The fifth HMS Seahorse was also a ship of the 6th rank, which with 14 guns was launched in 1709 and 1711 was lost by shipwreck.
  • The sixth HMS Seahorse, turn a ship 6 Ranges, but with 20 guns, had launched in 1712, was completely rebuilt in 1727 and sold in 1748.
  • The seventh HMS Seahorse was a 24- gun frigate, the Harwich was launched in 1748 and was sold in 1784.
  • The eighth HMS Seahorse was a frigate of 38 guns, which was put into service in 1794 and sold in 1819.
  • The ninth HMS Seahorse, a 46 - gun ship fifth rank, was launched in 1830, was sold in 1847 to a screw frigate and 1856 eventually turned into a mortar - ship, later renamed Lavinia and used as a coal and 1902.
  • The tenth HMS Seahorse was a submarine of the S-Class. The boat was launched on September 14, 1934 from the stack and is missing in the North Sea in January 1940.
