HMS Splendid

Several ships of the British Royal Navy have been named Splendid (English: great):

  • The first HMS Splendid (1597 ) was put into service in 1597.
  • The second HMS Splendid (1918 ) was a destroyer of the S-Class. She was commissioned into service in 1918 and shut down in 1931.
  • The third HMS Splendid ( P228 ) was a submarine of the S-Class. It was put into service in 1942 and in 1943 was sunk by a German destroyer.
  • The fourth HMS Splendid (S106 ) was a nuclear submarine of the Swiftsure class. She was 1979-2003 in the service.
