HMS Warrior

Four ships of the Royal Navy have been named HMS Warrior.

  • The HMS Warrior ( 1781), which was launched in 1781, was a ship of the line third class with 74 cannons. She was scrapped in 1857.
  • The HMS Warrior ( 1860), launched in 1860, was the second steel lined battleship that was seaworthy. Today it serves as a museum ship in Portsmouth.
  • The HMS Warrior ( 1905), launched in 1905, was an armored cruiser. It was heavily damaged in the Battle of Jutland and sank a day later.
  • The HMS Warrior ( R31 ) was a light aircraft carrier of the Colossus class. It was awarded to Canada from 1946 to 1948 and then sold to Argentina, where it was renamed Independencia 1958.
  • 2004 HMS Warrior, the headquarters of the British Royal Navy in Northwood, near London.
