Hobbs is a city in the southeast of the U.S. state of New Mexico in Lea County. It has 28,657 inhabitants and an area of 49 km ². It lies directly on the border with Texas and near Chihuahua, Mexico.

History

Hobbs was named after James Isaac Hobbs, a settler in the area. 1928 was found in Hobbs petroleum.
