Geography

Hobson is located in the heart of Montana. The city covers an area of 0.3 km ².

Demography

At the time of the census of 2000, there were 248 people in Hobson. The average income per household amounted to 30.179 dollars per family and 40 313 U.S. dollars. 19.2 % of families and 20.7 % of the urban population living below the poverty line.

St. John 's Lutheran Church

German -speaking Evangelical Lutheran immigrants gathered on 27 March 1912 a first Lutheran service in the Methodist Church in Hobson. On 12 February 1915, the Lutheran church was formed formally and joined on 20 June 1915, the Missouri Synod. In 1916 started the construction of a church, which was consecrated on 28 January 1917 as St. John 's Lutheran Church. By the year 1932, the church books were written in the German language. After the year 1961, the pastorate was vacant in Hobson and was not occupied by the shrinking of the number of members of the community again. In 1971 the church was closed.

In 1974 Hobson parts of the feature film was The devil takes the hindmost with Clint Eastwood and Jeff Bridges turned. The opening scene of the film played at St. John 's Lutheran Church with church members as extras that the Chorale Hallelujah! What a Savior! sing. The church was abandoned in 1981 laid down with the plan, they build up in the town of Troy in Montana for a newly established Lutheran congregation again. That did not happen, however, and parts of the church were only installed in wooden houses in Glacier Park. The church was mentioned in the film Spirit Lake Idaho Community Church. '
