Hochdorf District

The Office high village is one of five offices of the Swiss canton of Lucerne. The District high village was created in the reorganization of 1798 and initially included only the former for Foreign Affairs Office of the County Rothenburg belonging Seetaler communities north of Emmen. In 1803 the office of high village on the whole territory of the former Office Rothenburg and additionally extended by the communities of the Office Hitzkirch and to Schongau and Ermensee 1814 then reduced again to Hildisrieden, Neudorf, Buchenrain and Dierikon. It now thus includes the Lucerne Valley from Hallwilersee in the north, around the Baldeggersee to Reuss. The new Lucerne Cantonal 2007 Constitution knows no more offices, but they still exist as statistical units and as constituencies, as they are referred to officially since early 2013 (see Constituency high village).
