Geography

Geographical Location

High village is located about 30 km southeast of Stuttgart in the northwestern foothills of the Swabian Alb, a few kilometers south of the virgin forest. The municipality extends between Plochingen ( west) and Kirchheim unter Teck ( south) in the lower valley of the Talbachs, shortly before its confluence with the Fils.

Neighboring communities

Adjacent communities are Ebersbach an der Fils ( Göppingen district ) in the east, Notzingen in the south, Wernau in the West, Plochingen in the northwest and Reichenbach an der Fils in the north ( all the district of Esslingen ).

History

High village was first mentioned in 1189, but probably originated in the 5th century AD. Until 1454 the village was in possession of various monasteries, then he belonged to Württemberg, which came up in 1952 in the newly formed Southwest State.

Within Württemberg high village belonged first to the upper office Kirchheim and 1485 was assigned to the upper office Göppingen. In 1842, the reincorporation to Kirchheim, where the place remained until the reorganization of the districts in 1938. Since then, high village belongs to the district of Esslingen.
