Hochwurzen

Hochwurzen with views of the Dachstein

The Hochwurzen (1850 m above sea level. A. ) is a mountain on the northern edge of the Schladming Tauern over the Enns Valley.

The mountain is one of the Schladming ski area Schladming -Dachstein- Tauern, is thus part of the ski resort of the Amade and the Schladming -Dachstein. At the top is the Alpine Club house high Wurzhütte the section Schladming the Austrian Alpine Club.

Since 1999, is held annually on the Hochwurzen Hochwurzen Mountain Run.

Winter sports

On the Hochwurzen there are ski runs for all abilities, ski schools, ski lodges and several a 7-km long natural toboggan run, which is one of the longest groomed toboggan runs in Austria.

Accident

On 22 January 1984 came at a charity ski race to a tragic accident. The Austrian skier Josef " Sepp " Walcher from Schladming was killed.
