Hochzeitsnacht im Paradies

Wedding night in Paradise is an Austrian film comedy from 1962 with the main actors Waltraud Haas and Peter Alexander. The film is based on the eponymous operetta by Friedrich Schröder from 1942, which was filmed in 1950 with Johannes Heesters in the lead role.

Action

The operetta maestro Ulrich Hansen wants to operate again in its originally learned profession as a doctor and are in his farewell performance with the engagement of the Industrial daughter Regine Röders known. His stage partner and former girlfriend Ilonka not want the decision for another woman but accept without a fight. Jealous she devises a plan to stop the wedding.

Ulrich and Regine marry but as yet provided and embark on honeymoon in Venice. Ilonka follows the newlywed couple with their new admirers Gustav Säuerling to Venice and continues to try to bring the two apart.

Peter Alexander took during the filming in Venice his own, repeatedly postponed honeymoon with his wife Hilde and daughter Susi after. He used every free hour to get to know the city with his family. On the last day of shooting, he fell ill with acute appendicitis, while Waltraud Haas developed a severe flu. Premiere of the film was on 31 August 1962.
