Hocine Aït Ahmed

Hocine Aït Ahmed ( born 1926 ) is an Algerian politician Berber origin.

Life

Hocine Aït Ahmed was born in 1926 in Kabylia. He graduated from a regular education in a secondary school. Aït Ahmed, the Algerian national movement followed. He already belonged to the Vorläuder the FLN, the organization speciale and propagated early in the armed struggle as a means to achieve independence.

He was one of the nine founders of the FLN and took from exile true political activities. In October 1956, Aït Ahmed was arrested along with Ahmed Ben Bella and other leaders of the FLN after her plane had been advised and caught on Algerian territory. After independence, he returned along with Ben Bella from prison in France back.

However, he soon developed again to the opposition figure and tried with the establishment of FFS in Kabylia a nationwide uprising against Ben Bella and Houari Boumedienne later to rekindle. The experiment was suppressed by the Algerian army and Aït Ahmed was arrested in 1964 and sentenced to death. In the course he was pardoned to life imprisonment and later exiled to Switzerland.

He returned back to Algeria in 1989 and took there continues to participate in political life.
