Hockey Europe

The Hockey Europe is an association founded in October 2008, the seven most central and northern European professional hockey leagues.

Target

The goal of the association are friendly relations with each other and support the marketing of professional hockey in Europe. In particular, common interests in the North American National Hockey League ( NHL ) and the Russian Kontinental Hockey League ( KHL ) are represented. Before the season 2008/ 09 there had been conflicts between KHL, NHL and the member leagues of Hockey Europe. Since there is currently no transfer agreement between the leagues, several players were changed despite ongoing contracts in the newly formed KHL and the NHL. In addition, both KHL and NHL are planning an expansion into Central Europe.

Legal form and domicile

Hockey Europe has. , The legal form of a European Economic Interest Grouping and thus acts as a representation of interests of the European Union ( EU) Since Switzerland is not a member of the EU, the Swiss NLA officially deemed to be an associate member, but has the same rights as the other members. The seat of the Association is Cologne.

Organs

Hockey Europe is led by a volunteer president. The Office rotates annually among the member leagues. The current minister is Christian Feichtinger, League Manager of the Austrian Erste Bank Hockey League.
