Hof van Twente

( Listen? / I ) Hof van Twente is a municipality in the Netherlands, Overijssel province.

Location and economic

The municipality is located southwest of Almelo, northeast of the Achterhoek ( province of Gelderland ) and southeast of Rijssen - Holten, ie in the middle of the province of Overijssel. Goor and Delden have asbestos cement, metal and plastic industry. Anywhere in the crossed by several streams community there are small forests, beautiful country houses, old water mills and small castles. Many tourists visit this rural area. History

Goor

Goor ( Dutch: Schlick, lowland, dirt ) received its town charter in 1263. The Steward of Twente, who managed this area on behalf of the Prince-Bishop of Utrecht, resided in the late Middle Ages in Goor. Originated in the surrounding area, several castles, including house Heeckeren 1412. Goor had a small harbor on the river Regge, but when in 1936 the Twenthekanal was completed, there was an industrial port.

Eternit factory that produced asbestos cement, Goor brought many problems. Anyone was allowed free use for the creation of roads and garden trails for decades production residues operation. Delden

Delden received city rights in 1333. His round center was secured several centuries with earthen walls. Besides the village lies the Twickel Castle. It comes mainly in its present form from the 17th and 19th centuries and is still inhabited by a German noble family ( to Castell- Rüdenhausen ).

1886 was discovered at Castle Twickel salt in the soil. This led to the still -powered salt extraction in Hengelo.

In Markelo grave mounds were discovered dating back to prehistory.
