BWf1

The High Matze, also called High Mätze, is a mountain in the southern part of the Fichtelgebirge and 813 m high. It lies between the nail and Tröstau. The summit lies on a succession of oval-shaped door Mung rocks. The slope is wooded and can be walked through trails.

On the High Matze once the Karlstejn castle said to have been, but this can not be documented evidence. The name, in 1393 still " mazen ", later " meze " and " Mätze " translates into high German " mountain pasture ". About the High Matze extend the watershed between the North Sea and the Black Sea and the 50th degree of latitude and the trail.
