Geography

Geographical location

The municipality is located in the Natural Park Niederlausitzer heathland right Schwarze Elster. The heart of the nature park is the former military training area at Hohenleipisch. The area around the site is the largest orchard region of Brandenburg.

The municipality belongs to the district Dreska, which was first mentioned in 1406.

The first mention of Hohenleipisch probably 1210. 1346 / 1495 is mentioned as the place Hornlubisch. 1422 Hohenleipisch part of the dowry of the Duchess Offka was receiving your widow's residence in the castle of Liebenswerda. The place was severely affected in 1646 Wrangelscher particularly during the passage of troops. The monastery Dobrilugk owned the church patronage. The Hohenleipisch in and around that time widely spread pottery led in 1803 to the establishment of a village Guild - a rarity in the industry 's history. This guild had 1817 eleven members.
