Hohensaaten, Central

Hohensaaten is a district of Bad Freienwalde (Oder) in the district or Mark- land in Brandenburg. The previously separate municipality Hohensaaten belonged to its annexation to the district of Barnim.

Geography

The town is located north-east of Berlin directly at the Polish border on the edge of the National Park Lower Oder Valley. Right on the local situation, the combination of the Havel - Oder waterway with the Oder (see below "Water and Marine "). West of the town belong to the 20 m higher-lying plateau, large sections of the Bauer Lünower Heath to district.

History

Hohensaaten was first documented in 1258. The village belonged to the last Barnim. After a year of persistent struggle of council and citizens, in part, against the resistance of the district Barnim, the annexation agreement with the city of Bad Freienwalde (Oder ) was signed on 14 November 2008. From 1 January 2009 the former municipality Hohensaaten there is a neighborhood and thus moved into the district or Mark- land.

Policy

In the mayoral election on October 26, 2003 Holger Lehmann ( Wählergemeinschaft ) reached on the first ballot 352 votes ( 71.40 %) and was therefore chosen as honorary mayor. According to Lehmann's resignation in the fall of 2007 the only candidate Bernd Pliquett was elected on 2 December 2007 for the new mayor.

Attractions

Located in the center evangelical church was built from 1858 to 1860 after plans by the royal architect Friedrich August Stiller in the Gothic Revival style and restored in 1993-2001.

Water and Marine

In Hohensaaten are two sections of the Havel-Oder waterway or attitude, a section of the Old Or that continues the Oder- Havel Canal to the east, and the Hohensaaten- Friedrichsthaler waterway, linked by canal lock systems among themselves and with the Oder. The Havel - Oder waterway takes the same time to all the water out of the Oder. In Hohensaaten there are two locks:
