History

The origin Hohenwart was a former stronghold of Rapotonen. The last of this dynasty founded a nunnery in the weir in 1074. 1356 Hohenwart was granted market rights and was moved to the banks of the couple end of the 14th century the monastery mountain.

The market Hohenwart belonged to Rentamt Munich and the court Oberpfaffenhofen of the Electorate of Bavaria. Hohenwart had a market court magistrate own rights. In the course of administrative reform in Bavaria, was born with the congregation of 1818, the current community.

Incorporations

As the old seal was worn by centuries of use and no longer readable, asked Mayor and Council to renew and improve their badge. A design for the new coat of arms with the local patron was presented. Duke Maximilian I gave the market the improved coat of arms, on the St. George over the green dragon in blue armor and red lance on horseback is shown riding. In this form there is the coat of arms also in the subsequent period in the seals and in the heraldic literature.
