The High Case is a 1'794 m above sea level. M. high mountain. It lies on the border between the Canton of St. Gallen and Appenzell Innerrhoden in Switzerland and is part of the Alpsteins as a mountain range.

In the local dialect the mountain is called [ də xaʃtə ]. In the first mention of 1460 states that " in the box ".

Geography

Share the municipalities Altstaetten and Rüte, the municipality Mountain Forest extends below the summit area. Atop the St. Gallen Rhine Valley, the High box is the gateway to the Swiss Alps. The High box is also referred to as the " Rigi Eastern Switzerland ».

About 0.7 km as the crow north of the High box the summits of Kamor lies on 1'751 meters above sea level. M. Economic and tourism use

The distinctive mountain summit is being developed since 1964 by the Appenzeller side with a cable car. It requires eight minutes to overcome the 871 m difference in altitude from Brülisau.

In May 2008, a revolving restaurant was opened on the mountaintop.

In the High box, there is a 72 meter high transmission tower of the telecommunications company Swisscom. It was built in 1999 and replaced a smaller transmission tower.

The box saddle is, among other things, due to the opening up by cable car, a popular launch site for paragliders.
