The Higher Technical Institute ( HTL, HTLA ) Technical college ( HTBL, HTBLA ) and Higher Technical Training and Research Institute ( HTBLVA, HTBLuVA ) in Austria are vocational higher schools, with emphasis on technical, arts and crafts subjects.

Training areas ( disciplines ) are construction wood, chemical, electrical - electronics, machinery, textile, and other. In total there are 75 technical colleges in Austria (school year 2011/ 12).

Education system and concerns

Forms of training

At Higher Technical Colleges typically three types of training are offered:
