By 1860, the harmonicas were made entirely by hand, without any mechanical support. Each instrument has been manufactured from start to finish by one person alone. The continuous decline in demand in the music industry since 1986 led to a consistent Hohner niche marketing by the medium-sized company focused on its core business in harmonicas and accordions. This allowed Hohner the role of a global player in each micro market.
