Hohwald

Hohwald was a kreisangehorige community about 35 km southeast of Dresden directly on the Czech border. It consisted 1994-2007 and was named after the forest area Hohwald.

History

The community Hohwald was on 1 January 1994 by the merger of the municipalities Berthelsdorf, Rücker village and Langburkersdorf. Districts were Berthelsdorf, Langburkersdorf, Lower Ottendorf, Oberottendorf, Rücker village and Rugiswalde.

In the village lived approximately 5000 inhabitants in an area of 58.9 km ², the 318-585 m above sea level. MSL.

In a referendum held on 13 May 2007, the citizens elected to merge with the city of Neustadt in Saxony, which was completed on 1 August 2007.
