Hojanovice

Hojanovice ( German Hojanowitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located nine kilometers north-west of Humpolec and belongs to Okres Pelhřimov.

Geography

Hojanovice located in the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands right side above the valley of Želivka on a small stream, which flows into the dam Švihov. To the north lie the remains of the devastated patch Zahrádka. Southwest passes a road D 1

Neighboring towns are Dolni Paseka and Kamenná Lhota in the north, Podivice in the northeast, Proseč in the east, and Kaliště Lohenice to the southeast, and Chvalkovice Koberovice in the south, the west and Vojslavice Mesnik and Ježov in the northwest.

History

The first mention of Hojanovice was in 1318 in possession of a list of the Vyšehrad collegiate chapter.

In the late 1960s, construction began on the dam Švihov, by sinking the west of the village located deep cut in the romantic valley of the river bends Želivka from 1976 in a reservoir.
