Hokekyō-ji (Ichikawa)

Hokekyō -ji (Japanese法 华 経 寺) is a temple of the Nichiren shū in the Japanese city of Ichikawa, Chiba Prefecture. The temple was founded during the Kamakura period in 1260. He emerged from an amalgamation of the temple Kakayama Hommyo -ji and Hokke -ji Wakayama.

Outbuildings such as the Shisoku - mon, Hokkedō, Soshidō and the five-story pagoda ( Tō ) of the temple is also considered the repository of many important writings of Nichiren, and ranks among the national treasures of Japan. These Rissho Ankoku Ron is the (立正 安 国 论, dt "On the pacification of the country through the establishment of the true (correct) Act " ), it is one of the most important writings of Nichiren Buddhism and is presented annually in addition to other documents on the November 3 public.

During renovation work in 1987, a corpus of inscriptions of the lead carpenter indicated at the construction of the Soshidō in 1678 indicated that the roof was originally covered with wooden shingles.
