The College of Education, Hokkaido (Japanese北海道 教育 大学, Hokkaido Kyoiku daigaku, English Hokkaido University of Education, in short. Hokkyōdai (北 教 大) or HUE ) is a public educational college in Japan. The main campus is located in Kita- ku, Sapporo, Hokkaido prefecture.

History

The college was founded in 1949 by the merger of four state normal schools ( pedagogical colleges ). The four were:

  • The First Normal School Hokkaido (北海道 第一 师范学校, Hokkaidō dai -ichi shihan Gakko, in Sapporo, founded in 1877 ),
  • The Second Normal School Hokkaido (北海道 第二 师范学校, Hokkaidō dai -ni shihan Gakko, in Hakodate, founded in 1876 ),
  • The Third Normal School Hokkaido (北海道 第三 师范学校, Hokkaidō dai -san shihan Gakko, in Asahikawa, founded in 1923 ), and
  • Youth Normal School Hokkaido (北海道 青年 师范学校, Hokkaidō his shihan Gakko, in Iwamizawa, founded in 1923 ).

The university was first called College of Liberal Arts Hokkaido (北海道 学 芸 大学, Hokkaidō Gakugei daigaku ) and consisted of five branch schools ( " campus " since 1993) in Sapporo, Hakodate, Asahikawa, Kushiro Iwamizawa and according to the width of the prefecture. In 1966, the university in Hokkaido University of Education was renamed. 1987 pulled the branch school in Sapporo today's campus. In 1992, she founded the Graduate School (Master degree programs ).
