Holderness

Holderness is an English landscape on the Yorkshire coast.

Holderness now part of the administrative unit in East Riding of Yorkshire, after it had until 1996 a part of the County of Humberside as a district, " Holde Borough of Ness " in 1974. West joins the landscape Yorkshire Wolds.

The coastal plain of Holderness is subjected to the most erosion of a coast in Europe: 1.5 meters erode per year, giving a total mass of 2 million tons. Some of this material is transported from one coast flow and accumulates on the headland at Spurn. Since Roman times, went to Holderness about 5 km of land to the sea lost, which to this day, 23 towns were lost by erosion.
