Holdorf, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern

Holdorf is a municipality in the district of North West in Mecklenburg -Vorpommern ( Germany ). The community is managed by the Office Rehna based in the same city.

Geography

The municipality lies on the River Holdorf Radegast between the small towns Gadebusch and Rehna. The municipality has Holdorfs in the West a share of the Schaalsee and is partly located on the North Sea and Baltic Sea watershed. While the Radegast flows over the Travelodge in the Baltic Sea, the streams and ditches draining southwest of Holdorf on the Schaale the same and thus the North Sea.

To Holdorf include the districts Meetzen, new gasoline and Steinmann Hagen.

1994 investigated soil conservationists near Holdorfs fire graves from the Iron Age.

History

From 1995 to 2009, was one of the most important museums in Germany Fire Department, which was run as a State Fire Museum since 2001, in the district Meetzen. Were shown last over 16,000 exhibits, including over 150 cars and trailers. 2009 the museum moved into since then no longer used for cultural events hall at the TV tower in Schwerin. In Meetzen the technical area remained with the workshops for the restoration and a museum with about 1000 m² of exhibition space.

Attractions

In Holdorf Castle of the (water) - purpose association Radegast is housed. Also worth seeing are the half-timbered church of 1751 and the mansion in the district Meetzen. It is a two-storey brick building.

Holdorf is located on the main road 104 that leads from Luebeck to Schwerin and on the railway line Schwerin Rehna.
