Holger Thiele

Holger Thiele (* September 25, 1878, † 1946) was a Danish- American astronomer. He was the son of Thorvald Nicolai Thiele, after the asteroid 1586 Thiele is named.

Thiele discovered even some asteroids, et al on November 17, 1914 797 Montana, on September 30, 1916 843 Nicolaia, on February 1, 1916 1847 Stobbe and finally on August 9, 1916 3229 Solnhofen. He also discovered the comet C/1906 V1 and calculated the orbits of other comets. Thiele worked at the Hamburg Observatory, Bergedorf, later the American Lick Observatory.
