Holly Johnson
Holly Johnson ( born February 9, 1960 in Liverpool, actually William Johnson) is an English singer, songwriter, and painter.
Life
Johnson was a member of the British punk band Big In Japan in the late 1970s. He was known primarily as a singer of the pop group Frankie Goes to Hollywood. In 1987 he left the group because he did not agree with the musical development. Holly Johnson and his bandmate Paul Rutherford were in the 1980s of the first artists who professed open about their homosexuality. In the early 1980s, Johnson began with painting. His artistic style is characterized among other things by the bold use of phallic symbols and dealing with homosexuality. In 1989 he released his first solo album, which went to number 1 in the UK charts. In 1991 he learned that he is HIV -positive. In 1993 he made his illness public. He is one of long -term survivors living with their infection for more than 23 years.
