Hollywood Bowl

The Hollywood Bowl is the largest natural open-air theaters, modeled on the ancient Greek and is used primarily for music performances. Outside located in Los Angeles, it offers over 18,000 spectators. It was opened on 11 July 1922. Today it is the seat of the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, during the summer season, the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra. The stage was used by many well-known shows and music greats, including The Beach Boys, Frank Sinatra, The Beatles, Morrissey, Van Morrison, Pink Floyd, The Doors, Kylie Minogue and Elton John, for concerts. Legendary was the show Monty Python Live at the Hollywood Bowl.

History

At the opening of the Hollywood Bowl in 1922, the audience sat on simple wooden benches, the stage was very simple. A first shell over the stage was built in 1926 together with a solid seat installation for the audience. This stage canopy was given its final form in 1929. In 2003, Shell was remodeled and expanded. It focused primarily on a technical upgrade of the stage with video screens and built-in video cameras.
