Hollywood Forever Cemetery

The Hollywood Forever Cemetery is a cemetery in Hollywood ( California). It is located on Santa Monica Boulevard and is adjacent to the Paramount Studios. At the cemetery, some of the most famous Hollywood stars are buried. The cemetery is listed in the National Register of Historic Places since 1999.

History

The Hollywood Memorial Park Cemetery was created in 1899 on an area of ​​about 40 hectares ( 100 acres ). In 1920 the entire area of the Paramount Studios and RKO Pictures was purchased. Due to mismanagement of the cemetery fell into disrepair in the late 20th century, and partly to the sale of burial by the government of California was even banned. In 1998, the cemetery was sold as part of bankruptcy proceedings for $ 375,000 at Forever Enterprises, which renovated the cemetery and renamed. Since then, the ban was lifted for graves.
