Holmdel Township, New Jersey

Holmdel is one of the municipalities of the City Council of Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States.

Geography

Holmdel is connected through the Garden State Parkway to the road network. Holmdel is located about 45 km as the crow of Manhattan in New York City.

History

Holmdel was created by a decree of 23 February 1857 of the Municipality of Raritan (now Hazlet ).

Economy and infrastructure

The Bell Laboratories, Alcatel- Lucent today have operated in Holmdel research, where, among other things, in 1931, radio astronomy has been discovered by Karl Guthe Jansky. Alcatel- Lucent has the location finally closed in late 2007. Since then, the site is for sale.

The PNC Bank Arts Center (formerly the Garden State Arts Center ), is a 1968 opened amphitheater. There, open-air concerts are performed regularly. It is adjacent to the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

In November 2005, the VoIP provider Vonage Holdings Inc. its headquarters from Edison, New Jersey, moved to Holmdel in the former building of the Prudential Property Casualty & Insurance.
