Holmen AB (until 2000 Mo och Domsjö AB ) is a Swedish company that mainly manufactures cardboard and paper and has been listed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange.

The company owns several subsidiaries, each of which has different product ranges. These are:

  • Holmen Paper produces and sells newsprint and cardboard.
  • Iggesund produces and sells different kinds of cardboard used in the packaging industry.
  • Iggesund Timber produces wooden products manufactures from pine trees.
  • Holmen Skog is the timber trade division and responsible for forestry.

Major products newsprint heard for magazines, journals, newspapers and advertisements. The company's headquarters is located in Stockholm.

History

The company has its origins in several small businesses that originated in different parts of Sweden: Among other things, this was a weapons factory, which was founded by Duke Johann of Östergötland in 1609 on the island Kvarnholmen ( Mill Island ) in Norrköping. Of this also the current company name is derived from Holmen.

The present company was founded in 1875 and is currently headed by Magnuns Hall ( 2005). The company employs approximately 4,870 employees ( 2005). In 1998, the company MoDo, Holmen Bruk and Iggesunds Bruk merged to form Mo och Domsjö AB, but the name after the sale of Domsjö was changed Fabriker ( headquarters of MoDo ) a little later, in February 2000 in Holmen AB. The largest owner is L. E. Lundbergsföretagen, which is controlled by the millionaire Fredrik Lundberg, who holds 27.2% of the shares and 52.0 % of the voting rights in the company.

Turnover

The company has focused on the EU market and generated there 86 % of its net sales, 4% did the rest of Europe and the remaining 10% are in the rest of the world.
