Holsteiner horse

The Holsteiner is a bred in Schleswig-Holstein sport horse breed, which belongs to the German riding horse.

Exterior

The Holsteiner is a großliniges horse. On the strong neck sits an expressive head. The shoulders and chest are strong. The withers are pronounced, the body compact and well arched. More typical for the breed characteristics are a medium- long back, lean, hard legs with short tubes.

Interior

The typical Holsteiner is an athletic, großliniges and expressive riding horse with ideal facilities for show jumping, but also for the dressage and hunter. He has an above average jumping ability. A Holsteiner is uncomplicated, Ready for Action, nerves strong and reliable. Here are his even temperament and his outstanding character of great importance.

He has excellent jumping ability, has a long stride, a large-scale trot and a lively gallop.

Breeding history

The Holsteiner was originally a horse that was both as a riding horse as well as at work on the field its use. The first breeding began in the 14th century in the monastery of Uetersen. Through constant refinement of the breed, especially through the breeding of English Thoroughbreds, he has now become a riding horse with excellent qualities for show jumping, but also for dressage and hunter.
