Holy Trinity Church, Warsaw

The Trinity Church ( Kościół Świętej Trójcy w Warszawie ) is the main church of the Evangelical - Augsburg Church in Warsaw.

History

The initiative to build the church came from the royal banker Piotr Tepper. The building was designed train in classicism style by architect Simon Gottlieb. King Stanisław August Poniatowski had chosen among several designs for architects train design. The building was financed by donations Polish church members and Lutheran churches from abroad. The shape of the church was the Roman Pantheon modeled. The total height of the building is 58 m, the diameter of 33.4 m.

Construction began on 24 April 1777. On December 30, 1781, the Warsaw Trinity Church was consecrated.

Among the artists who gave concerts in the church, included Frédéric Chopin, who also sang in the church choir, his teacher Karl August Freyer Stanislaw Moniuszko as well.

On September 16, 1939, the church was struck by a bomb and burned out. From 1949 to 1957, the church was rebuilt in its original form after a design by the architect Theodor lad. On November 18, 1956, the first service was held.

The rebuilt building in 1965 entered in the register of Warsaw monuments.

Organ

The two-manual organ of Trinity Church was built in Altwarmbuchen near Hanover in 1997/98 by the company Hillebrand and consecrated in March 1998.
