Holzkirch
Holzkirch is a small municipality in the Alb -Donau-Kreis in Baden- Württemberg, Germany. The community belongs to the Gemeindeverwaltungsverband Langenau.

Geographical Location
Holzkirch lies on the southern edge of the Swabian Alb north of Lonetals and north of Ulm.
Neighboring communities
The municipality is bordered to the north by Weidenstetten, to the east by Neenstetten, on the southeast by Bernstadt, to the south by Wyke and to the west by Westerstetten.
History
Holzkirch was first mentioned in 1362 and in 1385 came into possession of the imperial city of Ulm. As Ulm in 1803 lost its status, the place came to Ulm Bavaria. The border between Bavaria and Württemberg in 1810 finally established in a contract and Holzkirch was part of Württemberg.
Culture and sights
Structures
The late Romanesque tower of Barbara's Church dating from around 1150 offered the whole village population protection in troubled times. The very massive churchyard wall was probably the defense. see also Castle Holzkirch
