Homayoun Ershadi

Homayoun Ershadi (Persian همایون ارشادی; * 1947 in Isfahan) is an Iranian actor and former architect.

Life

Ershadi, whose father worked for the armed forces of Iran, first completed the mandatory two years of military service. In 1970 he completed his studies in architecture at the University of Venice. He then worked for the next 25 years as an architect in Iran and internationally.

During a car ride through Tehran he stopped a little longer at a red light, where the often working with amateur actors director Abbas Kiarostami knocked on his plate and offered him a role in his next film Taste of Cherry. Ershadi immediately agreed and took over the lead role in the film of Mr. Badii, who travel by car through Tehran and a helper for his planned suicide investigated. The film had its world premiere in May 1997 at the International Film Festival in Cannes, where he was awarded the Palme d'Or.

After several roles in Iranian films, he took over in 2007 in Marc Forster's The Kite Runner Literaturverfilmung the role of Baba. 2012 joined Kathryn Bigelow Ershadi in action thriller Zero Dark Thirty in the role of Hassan Ghul.
