Homberg, Bern

Homberg is a municipality in the administrative district of Thun in the canton of Bern in Switzerland.

Geography

The village lies on the north-east of Thun, on the slopes on the left side of the valley of the lower Zulgtals. Previously, there were no major population centers. Today, in the hamlet Dreiligass (941 m asl ) emerged a village center. The next larger districts are Enzenbühl (south-east of the village center, 997 m asl ), Huckhaus ( east, 951 m asl ) and carts ( north, 864 m asl ). In addition, there are other groups of houses and farmsteads. The area is heavily wooded along the streams. Largest Bach, which opens next to the Zulg the Stägenbach from the left in the Zulg. Of the total area of 652 ha community 66.4 % is used for agriculture. 30.1% is covered by forest and woodland, and only 3.2% settlement area.

The site is bordered to the east by Teuffenthal, to the south Heiligenschwendi and Thun, on the southwest by Schwendibach, on the west by Steffi Castle, on the north by Fahrni and Unterlangenegg and on the northeast by Horrenbach- Book.

Population

In early 2005 Homberg counted 495 inhabitants.

Languages

The people speak in everyday life, a high Alemannic dialect, which belongs to the German dialects of Bern. At the last census in 2000 gave all citizens of German as their main language.

Religions - faiths

In earlier times, all the inhabitants were members of the Evangelical Reformed Church. However, there is since 1900 the Freie Evangelische Gemeinde Homberg.

Origin - Nationality

Early 2005 were from residents 481 ( = 97.17 %), Swiss nationals and 14 people immigrants from other countries.

The voting shares of the parties at the national elections of 2011 were: SVP 56.2 %, 12.3% EDU, BDP 11.4%, EPP 4.9%, 4.3%, glp, GPS 4.1%, SP 3.4 %, FDP 0.8 %, CVP 0.4%.

Traffic

Portions of the township on the road from Steffisburg to Teuffenthal are accessible through the mail car line tuna Teuffenthal. The municipality parts on the hillside south of the Zulg are not accessible by public transport.

The largest settlements of the municipality is situated on the side street (tuna ) Steffisburg - Teuffenthal. The municipality parts on the hillside south of the Zulg are poorly developed. Nearest motorway junction Thun-Nord on the A6.
