Home Movie Day

Home Movie Day means a place annual event, which the amateur and private film is dedicated to analogue film material. On this day, narrow films are publicly exhibited in selected cinemas. It was first launched in 2002 by film archivists who were concerned about the preservation of the classic film in the United States. Since then, this day has established in several countries and usually takes place on the same date.

The purpose of the Home Movie Day is to give individuals an opportunity to present their amateur films to a wider audience itself. At the same time raise awareness for the preservation of the material film is to be achieved. It is part of the concept of Home Movie Days, which aims to provide a professional assessment to obtain the images. This offers the opportunity to discover personal documents as historical and professional conservators and archivists advice for improved storage, digitization - to obtain and the like - in terms of a simplified access. The first Home Movie Day was held on 16 August 2003. In 2008 the date was each placed on the second Saturday in October. In Switzerland he was first performed on 26 October 2012.
