Home Retail Group

The Home Retail Group plc ( HRG) is the UK's leading retailers of consumer goods. The company, based in Milton Keynes is listed on the London Stock Exchange in the FTSE 100 share index.

The company covers the holding company retailers Argos and Homebase, as well as their financial sectors such as ARG Financial Services, Card Services ARG, ARG Insurance Services and ARG Card Transactions.

The group employs approximately 48,000 people and has over 1,000 stores in the British Isles.

History

In April 1998, the company GUS plc bought at the retailer Argos, whose products at this time jewelry, toys, electronics and household items. 2000 were pooled in the Home Retail Group, Argos, GUS Home Shopping and Realitiy UK delivery service. The latter two were in 2003 and 2006 sold again. In December 2002 Homebase was purchased.

On 10 October 2006, HRG split off from its parent company, GUS plc and became an independent publicly traded company.
