Homero Manzi

Homero Manzi ( born 1 November 1907 in Añatuya, Argentina, † May 3, 1951 in Buenos Aires ) was a tango poet, author of many famous tango.

Life

Manzi was born as Homero Nicolás Manzioni Prestera on November 1, 1907 in Añatuya, Santiago del Estero Province. Since his youth he was interested in literature and tango. After a brief foray into journalism, Manzi worked as a professor of literature and Spanish, but for political reasons ( he was a member of the Unión Cívica Radical ) he was released and then decided to devote himself to the arts.

In 1935, he participated in the founding of the FORJA ( Fuerza de Orientación Radical de la Joven Argentina - Association of Radical Orientation of Argentine youth), a group whose position has been classified as " peoples nationalism ". She was active in Argentina and the rest of Latin America and thought, Argentina still would be in a colonial situation. With regard to the situation in Europe, the Group supported a neutral position, both fascism and communism were rejected.

In 1934, Manzi magazine MICROFONO (microphone), the radio, treated the Argentine film and filmmaking. He wrote in 1937 together with Hugo Mac Dougall the screenplay for Nobleza Gaucha, a new version of the silent film Huella ( footprint ) ( 1940), for which she received an award and Confesión ( Confession) ( 1940). However, all three films had no great commercial success.

1940 began his long association with Ulyses Petit de Murat, with whom he initially wrote the film scores for Con el dedo en el gatillo ( trigger finger ) ( 1940) and Fortin alto ( High Fort ) ( 1940).

Became known, however, is Manzi for his numerous tango. In Boedo district him a junction that is mentioned in the tango " Sur " was named after Manzi honor. In Nueva Pompeya a mural reminiscent of him. In 1951, he died in Buenos Aires.
