Homoptera

The Gleichflügler ( Homoptera ) are a group of plant sap -sucking insects. They belong to the order Hemiptera ( Hemiptera ). The Gleichflügler include the cicadas ( Auchenorrhyncha ) and aphids ( Sternorrhyncha ). It is there at the Gleichflüglern a Paraphylum, because all common features are plesiomorphies. Lessons drawn from molecular biological studies on the relationships of the Hemiptera and the " Homoptera " make a further breakdown of Hemiptera in five sub-orders, the terms " Homoptera " and " Auchenorrhyncha " are to be regarded as invalid:
