Homosassa Springs is a census -designated place (CDP ) in Citrus County in the U.S. state of Florida with 13,791 inhabitants ( 2010).

Geography

Homosassa Springs is from U.S. Highway 19 (SR 55) and 98 is tangent to a common line. The CDP is located approximately 20 km west of Inverness and about 100 km north of Tampa.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 13,791 inhabitants distributed to 7,138 households. The population density was 206.1 inh. / Km ². 95.6 % of the population were white, 0.9% African American, 0.4% Native American and 0.7 % Asian Americans. 0.4 % were members of other ethnic groups and 1.9% in different ethnic groups. 3.6% of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 41.0 % of all households lived in 23.7 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 63.6 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 2.30 persons and the average family size was 2.75 persons.

19.7% of the population were younger than 20 years, 18.3% were 20-39 years old, 29.1% were 40-59 years old and 32.7 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 49 years. 49.3 % of the population were male and 50.7 % female.

The average annual income was $ 30,722, while 21.3 % of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 97.67 % of the population and 2.34% had a different mother tongue.
