The 251 Expressway is an expressway in South Korea. The highway is a connection from the Expressway 25 at Nonsan Expressway and the one in the big city Daejeon in the center of South Korea. The highway is 54 km long.

Street Description

South of Nonsan Expressway begins the 251 on a cross with the Expressway 25 The Expressway 251 runs in a north-easterly direction through flat plains with some hills. In the south of the Daejeon Expressway 300 is crossed, which forms the southern ring of Daejeon. The Expressway 251 forms the western ring of Daejeon. The highway has 2x2 lanes and runs along the urban area. On the west side of the Daejeon Expressway 30 ends coming from Gongju. After a bend to the east the highway ends in the north of the city and goes to the Expressway 1, the main highway from Seoul to Busan.

History

The building of the former Expressway 25, began on 15 April 1970, when a single track with a branch to the expressway one which was opened at that time. This part was released on December 30, 1970 for traffic. On April 25, 1983, construction began for the second lane between Daejeon and Nonsan. This second lane was released on December 26, 1985 for traffic. On 25 August 2001, the part of Nonsan Expressway to Daejeon as 251 was renumbered.
