Honda Civic (eighth generation)

Honda Civic five-door hatchback (2006-2009)

The eighth-generation Honda Civic was offered in Germany from 14 January 2006 on the sale. It is available with various petrol engines and a diesel engine developed by Honda.

The appearance leans heavily on a concept version of which was shown in the spring of 2005 at the Geneva Motor Show. 2006 of the cars at the Red Dot Design award was honored with the " best of the best " award.

On 20 May 2006, the German sales of the new Civic Hybrid began ( successor to the Civic IMA). The advanced hybrid version now delivers 85 kW ( 115 hp) instead of 61 kW (83 hp).

A year after the start of the five-door Civic, the series was by the two three-door Type R ( German sales start 31 March 2007) and Type S (May 12, 2007) supplemented.

The European Civic versions were built at the Honda plant in Swindon, England. In November 2007, the one millionth Civic there was already off the line.

In the fall of 2007, the security system of the Civic has been optimized. The single-stage front airbags have been replaced by two-stage airbags, also the side airbags were enlarged and adapted to the triggering time of the belt tensioner. Also the mounting points of the front floor mats were laid from the seat rod into the ground carpet for the 2008 model year, so there are from this model year other floor mats sets.

In January 2009, the Civic has been redesigned. He received other front apron and headlight and modified tail lamps.

In Canada, the model is also offered as Acura CSX, where it replaces the Acura EL. The Acura CSX is largely identical to the one offered outside North America, four doored Honda Civic notchback. In Germany, Austria and Switzerland, from this model, only the Civic Hybrid available. The offered in North America and China Honda Civic models have a slightly modified headlights and tail light configuration as well as a somewhat simpler interiors.
